Damn, that gnome king is so cool. Last time he saved the day. This time he got the girl. What more can he do, while he continues to take the life away from our main character?
Find out next week.
In the meantime, there are things brewing in the comic world. I’m gearing up for April conventions – lots of work to get done before those shows, which are some of my biggest shows of the year. There’s a lot of discussion going on in the ACEN forums surrounding possible panels, topics, and funny stories from past shows.
At the same time, I’m trying to get the new Albert book out. The printer has sent through proofs, and we have a few tweaks to make before it goes into final production. Lots of work to get done, but it’ll be a lot of fun too.

Need something to do in April? Come see me at some awesome conventions!
C2E2 – Chicago, Il – April 13-15
The Chicago Comic Show with all the big publishers. Be sure to come see your favorite bald men (and hopefully they’re not all named Brian or Grant). I’ll be at the Reading with Pictures booth all weekend, and also providing much of the children’s programming. And premiering the new Albert the Alien book! Be sure to check it out!
ACEN – Rosemont, Il – April 27-29
My favorite show of the year, since it’s basically a big long party all weekend. Which never ends, and you never want it to. There’s something to do the whole weekend, be it anime watching, gaming, panels, or just coming into artist alley and buying my books. It’s the show that never sleeps. Hope to see you there!

And we’re back. Sorry for the week off, but I needed it. I just moved into a new place, so unpacking has been taking up the bulk of my time. Heck, my computer wasn’t even set up until this past weekend. But, I was able to get the pages done for this week. So, without further delay…
Looks like the Gnome King has taken full control over the comic at this point (continuing to break the 4th wall, as it were), with all of the characters starting to look like him. And he’s apparently the hero now. How will this affect things moving forward? And will our hero be able to break free from this situation and put things back to normal?
Well, there’s only one way to find out: keep coming back and reading! Comic updates every Wednesday and Friday.

Welcome to The Matrix…of your mind! You guys remember the Gnome King, right? He was the antagonist in the very first story arc, as well as in The Prisoner story arc.
How did he access “Limbo” or suck Trevor into it? Well, that is the question, isn’t it….
This page marks the end of this story arc, but not the end of the story. There’s still plenty of more fun to have in this world, and I’m enjoying playing with these Roger Rabbit moments where illustration and photo cross over. It’s difficult to do and time consuming, but man is it fun.
So next week we will see a fundamental change in the comic, as the Gnome King takes over and starts telling the stories he wants to read. Hopefully you enjoy reading them too.
Have a great weekend!

And down the rabbit hole we go! While this page took AGES to finish (lots and lots of editing) compared to the other photo pages, it was a lot of fun to do. It’s interesting to see what kind of things you can do with a photo comic in Photoshop. Perhaps a dramatic piece may be appropriate for down the road?
In any case, there’s only one page left in this story arc, and after that we change things up for a while. It’s going to be a fun little experiment, I think.
As for me, I’m moving into a new apartment…this week, in fact. Everything’s in boxes, and it’s only by the good graces of my buffer that I’m even able to update right now. A buffer that is quickly disappearing, mind you. One of the problems with doing a photo comic is that guest strips are a little difficult to come by.
However, we’ll be seeing some illustrated comics come back on for a while. I’ve missed doing the drawing, and this comic has changed dramatically from where it was in 2006 when it first started. Which was all illustrated.
Anyway, I’m off to pack more boxes. See you Friday for the conclusion to this story arc!

This would definitely not be the way I would want to end my weekend. Just saying.
This page took a lot of time to put together, but man oh man was it a lot of fun to do. And I think it turned out great. The trick with this page was to figure out a way to make it look like I was getting sucked into a large cartoon portal. But obviously I wasn’t working with a green screen or any wires. So it involved a lot of manipulation in photo shop to combine several elements to make it into the page you see before you.
Plus, the faces of Devil-T and Angel-T are hilarious. Just saying.
There’s still plenty more to come – although this story arc wraps up in just 2 more pages. However, there’s kind of a game-changing ending here that should leave you with that fun horror movie feeling. The dread. The horror. The knowledge that this has only just begun.
Although, I may not spin this off into 13 sequels that have more horrible acting as they go. Although, as they come out directly to DVD, they do contain more and more nudity. Like a crappy horror sequel should!

I have a few convention appearances in April:
C2E2 (Chicago, IL – April 13-15)
Chicago’s own C2E2, complete with publishers and celebrity comic creators. And celebrities. And if you want to see a certain bald comic creator who isn’t named Grant or Brian, be sure to stop by the Reading with Pictures booth to check out the work and buy a book or two. I’ll also be doing some children’s programming, and premiering the new book: Albert the Alien!
ACEN (Rosemont, IL – April 27-29)
My favorite show of the year, and some of the most fun you’ll have all year. I’ll be a guest of honor at the show, doing panels throughout the weekend and hanging out at my table by artist alley when not there. There are tons of awesome guests at this show, and the events are non-stop. Seriously 24 hours of awesome. If you like anime, comics, or just having a fun time, you need to be at this show!

Oh snap, we’ve seen those before. Several times, in fact. Charlie, the poltergeist of the illustrated version of our protagonist, created it after The Prisoner story arc by using enough power to bring Trevor back from the dead. Also, in the new @$$hole!: Volume 1 book, they appear a few times.
They even appeared when Trevor was wondering around the photo world, and he was going to walk through (in the Photo Fight story arc that didn’t happen online, but it will appear in a volume of the printed book. I wrote the thing, and illustrated the pages, damn it! Just never had the time to put them together with the photos).
Clearly I was building to something when I did all of these things. And this was a big part of it.
Only three pages left to go. How will this end? Will our hero save the day, or be defeated by the evil Gnome King? Be sure to stay tuned every Wednesday and Friday as the final pages start to come out!

Dun dun DUN! Did you see that coming? I’ll let you stew on this all weekend. Come back next week Wednesday for the start of the last few pages.

Hey there, and welcome to what’s quickly wrapping up this epic storyline. We’re about to get a HUGE revelation on Friday which will change the game. For serious. Be here to check it out.
In other news, for the month of March I’ll be moving into a new pad. Moving in with Beth, in fact. Things have been going pretty well, and with my lease ending (and her not being a fan of spending the weekends at my place), it just made a lot of sense. Plus, you know, there’s the whole “love” thing going on.
After March, however, will be hard core comics time. I’ll be attending both C2E2 (Chicago, IL April 13-15) and ACEN (Rosemont, IL April 27-29). I’ll be speaking at both shows, and will be a guest ACEN. Both shows will have the premiere of my latest project, Albert the Alien – with artwork from the very talented Gabriel Bautista.
C2E2 I’ll be in the small press section working the Reading with Pictures booth with fellow contributor Russell Lissau (The Batman Strikes, Strawberry Shortcake). There will be several RWP panels throughout the weekend, and Gabe and I will be providing some kids programming on the main stage. Should be a great time, so I hope to see you there.
ACEN is probably my favorite show of the year, and they always have a great show. I’ll be a guest of honor at the show, giving panels throughout the weekend and selling books near artist alley when I’m not. Albert the Alien will also be available at this show, along with @$$hole! volume one. If you like anime, laughing, fun times, good people, or a great convention you should totally come to this show. If you don’t like any of those things, then I’m sorry for you. Your life must be sad and miserable.
Anyway, see you back here Friday to the HUGE reveal. Seriously, game changing.

Ah yes, Professor Ikinpoopin. Everyone remember him from the beginning of this story arc? He’s the one who invited Trevor out to this cabin in the first place. Perhaps some answers are around the corner.
Got a lot of great projects in the pipeline that I’ve slowly been revealing to you guys. The first of the year was the @$$hole!: Volume 1 book, which premiere this past weekend at Anime Milwaukee. I’m happy to say, I sold through all the books I brought – about 1/3 of the stock I ordered. Popular book, made popular by awesome fans.
The next book reveal is the Albert the Alien book, which I’ve been posting a few previews about. Gabriel Bautista and I have rejoined forces on the next installment, called “Albert the Alien is Using the Hall Pass.” The book will be out in April for the next shows we do: C2E2 and ACEN. It’s a 24 page book filled with the full story, copy of the scripts, and activity pages for the kids. Looking forward to getting that book off to the printers in a next week or so.
The third project is my first horror story, which I’ll be revealing more about in the coming weeks. This project will be a little longer in the making, since it’s a little more ambitious than the others. But the goal here is to produce 4 floppies, followed by a graphic novel. Or maybe we just make the graphic novel. I’ll decide as it continues to come together.
Anyway, I’m spending the weekend working on this horror project, called Nightshade, and moving into a new apartment. Going to be a busy weekend. Hope you are also looking forward to an activity fueled weekend. See you next week!

So Trevor, Devil-T, and Angel-T are off from the lake to try to make it back to the cabin to protect the Book of the Dead. But they’ve encountered a lot of distractions and obstacles along the way. What lies in store for them next will be updating on Friday, and let me tell you – the ending of this arc will be epic. Seriously EPIC.
So I’m recovering nicely from an amazing weekend at Anime Milwaukee. Unfortunately I caught the con-flu (which is rare for me), so the con report is a little delayed. Going to shoot to have it live on Thursday. At the same time, trying to pack up because I’m moving into a new apartment, and trying to get oodles and oodles of comic projects done before the end of the month so they can be ready in time for C2E2 in April.
I will say this: Anime Milwaukee is an extremely fun show, and always sets the bar high for convention season. It’s a great way to start the year. The fans are great, the attendees are great, the guests are great – and the organizers, volunteers, and staff are amazing. If you love anime, you should really attend this show.
And to those of you joining us for the first time, welcome. You are among friends here.
Alright, I’m gonna go drink some tea and try to recover a bit. See you Friday!
