Continuing with our reader mail theme, there’s more than just e-mail…there’s also spam comments.
Most of my readers tend to e-mail more so than leave comments, but that doesn’t stop the spam bots at all. You can always tell comments are spam when they read “Free xbox” in the URL, username, or subject line.
Of course, you can also tell when a comment makes no sense in the context of the comic strip they’re commenting on. However, in the instance of this particular comment, I had to embellish a bit. I don’t click on attachments or pictures that people send me (so please don’t).
It’s mostly to protect myself from viruses or any potential stories that people would send to me. I want to read your stories, aspiring comic creators, but not unless it’s printed and complete. The phrase I use is “I don’t want to hear about your comic, I want to read your comic.” But not in a script form or rough layouts. I want to read the final product.
Anyway, I’m prepping for ACEN next weekend in Rosemont, and it’s going to be a blast. I’ll be a guest of honor at the show for the second year in a row, and hopefully my panel list will be available soon – but whatever they are, it’ll be a ton of fun!
